2007 AWARD WINNER

PRO-BONO CAUSE MARKETING INCENTIVE
IN RECOGNITION OF PAM LANE
CAMPAIGN - Fostering the Joy of Giving
AGENCY - TOTAL Advertising & Communications
CHARITY - Inspire Foundation
Total’s philosophy is: if involvement is
key to changing opinions and
behaviour, surely that must apply to
how, as a company, Total seeks to
help the community.
Total believes donations alone do
not form a culture of giving.
Participation in the raising of funds, or
rallying of support, however, ultimately
provides staff with an understanding
of the people they are trying to help
and allows them to experience the joy
of giving first-hand.
Total also believes it’s important
for individuals to choose which charity
to support.
Activities individual staff participate
in include staff fundraising
and charity days, while the agency
provides support through partnerships
(with organisations such as
MAD ball and Sport & Tourism
Foundation) and pro-bono work (for
The Wayside Chapel and WSPA).
Total’s environment team was
formed in 2003, to improve the
internal environment of the agency
and the community at large.
Some of the team’s initiatives
include monthly Friday BBQs and
weekly yoga - both of which the
agency pays for but staff show
appreciation for via a charity
donation.
Staff involvement was taken to
a new level in 2006, when a staff
member suggested each person
donate a day to support their
chosen charity.
The number of charities
supported by the agency are too
many to list but include the Cancer
Council, Red Nose Day, Australian
Red Cross, Canteen and Guide Dogs
Australia.
Total’s culture of greater social
awareness also inspired the
inception of The MAD Ball, a charity
evening designed for the younger end
of the industry network to have fun
and win prizes, with proceeds going
to the INSPIRE Foundation.
Total’s nominated recipient of funds
from this award is the INSPIRE
Foundation.
