Overview:

Role & Responsibilities

The Manager supports the Director and Group Account Director  to deliver strategic and innovative media solutions for our clients, helping to evaluate media responses to determine the best fit for the strategy and the most effective tactics to deliver on the objectives.  You will be responsible for maintaining a strong knowledge of all media vendor offerings, as well as monitoring and reporting to the broader team on prevailing market conditions and opportunities for our clients working on WW (Weight Watchers), Mortgage Choice, Hort Innovation, Tourism NT, NSW Government (key accounts).

Planning & Trading

  • Assists the Director & Group Account Director to drive the media output of the team, ensuring a clear link of implementation to consumer insights.
  • Accountable for the implementation of all investment strategies and oversees the trading product across all channels, ensuring that the core principles of the trading process are being applied.
  • Maintains best practice processes to ensure accuracy and quality of media planning, negotiation and implementation conducted by the team.
  • Monitors, enhances & enforces adherence to processes within the team.
  • Contributes to team WIPs and supports workflow and resource allocation within the team, manages issues effectively and reports issues or concerns to the Director.
  • Assists the D&GAD to identify proactive opportunities with the ability to sell in media initiatives over and above media recommendations.
  • Works with the D&GAD to ensure that the National Head of Planning & Trading is across all briefs in market.
  • Works with the D&GAD to formulate an optimal media recommendation, bringing media responses together to tell a consistent story directly linked to the strategy.
  • Competent in evaluating & negotiating all media with media vendors (under the guidance of the D&GAD & benchmarking all rates).
  • Accountable for all team financials: budget control, contract management, account queries & proformas.
  • Uses & understands all planning & buying tools (Tools including but not limited to: AQX, eTam, Roy Morgan, Nielsen Answers, Move, eRam).
  • Understands the role of all media channels and the way digital and traditional channels interact to drive response within a target segment.
  • Actively reads & researches up-to-date industry news and trends and ensures this information is effectively distributed amongst the team.

Client Management

  • Critical evaluation of the ability for a media recommendation and plan to deliver on client’s objectives.
  • Responsible for the media plan from implementation planning through to execution. Fine tuning budget allocation, weights, phasing, and title/channel/site mix with creation of the media plan.
  • Supports the Director & Group Account Director in managing key client relationships from a planning and investment perspective, ensuring that delivery is to a high standard.
  • Drives an agenda of inter-agency collaboration to achieve clients’ results, ensuring updates and insights are shared amongst all internal stakeholders.
  • Ensures work produced by junior team members is of high quality, delivered on time and communicated effectively, including regular reporting.
  • Ensures clear communication to the Director & Group Account Director, Client Leads & Client contacts at all time, to guarantee satisfaction and expectation management.
  • Communicates market trends, developments or any changes that will impact any trading performance to the client.
  • Provides concise, timely and accurate reporting on all campaigns, including insightful commentary and learnings for future campaigns.
  • Ensures strong communication and feedback to media vendors and publishers.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 year’s experience media planning and trading in an agency environment including TV buying.
  • Strong relationship management skills - both client and media relationships.
  • Advanced implementation skills with the ability to translate a channel recommendation into a media recommendation / plan.
  • Understanding of all media channels, with the ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each channel and the impact these have in delivering on the client objectives. 
  • Advanced knowledge of all media & research tools required for planning and ability to analyse the output and identify insights that influence media planning.
  • Advanced media buying/negotiation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the media marketplace with the use of tools such as SMI to demonstrate understanding.
  • An appetite and aptitude for analysis that helps to truly understand the market.
  • An ability to analyse trends and data to create negotiation platforms.
  • Ability to effectively communicate – written and verbal.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates financial and numerical astuteness.
  • Mid level management skills to develop junior members of the team.
  • Problem solving mentality.
  • Attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage a broad scope of tasks and deliver on deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks to deliver on deadlines and maximise productivity within the team and agency.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to interrogate data to look for trends and opportunities that support strategic decision-making.
